Patricio Cassinoni Artist´s statement My work stems not from the creation of an image in itself, instead from the reinterpretation of another. To achieve this, I use diverse media such as photographs, acrylics, inks, paper,and so on, making layers which add up and superimpose on the base, generating this new image. I do not consider it to be a linear process -if we take this to mean starting from and finishing at a predetermined result- as every piece, having different materials, mutates and changes, appearing and becoming concrete during the process of development itself. I use paper as my basic material, starting by superimposing layers, which will later start to disappear as I begin to strip them away, giving way to previous layers and what I see hidden amongst and behind them. I do not believe in the search for beauty as the ultimate goal for a work of expressive art, rather I believe that it must go further than that; I think beauty is just an aesthetic parameter, which means that beauty is constantly changing, transforming and mutating with the passage of time.
